Cotton Mouth and How To Avoid It
Have you heard of the term “cotton mouth” before? Well, cotton mouth is a popular term used to describe the dry mouth that an individual experience after smoking Cannabis. Dry mouth is the result with how marijuana affects the salivary gland through the endocannabinoid system of the body. Endocannabinoid system is a biological system composed of endocannabinoids and endocannabinoids receptors. Its main function is to maintain and restore the equilibrium of the body. It acts to regulate how other systems of the body work. Aside from the endocannabinoid receptors in the brain, there are also receptors found in other parts of the body including in the submandibular glands or the pair of glands found just below the floor of the mouth; which produces about 70% of our saliva.
